Working as one team across Clevedon, Portishead, Pill, Nailsea and nearby villages, we’re improving access, tackling inequalities and strengthening connection. The projects below highlight this collaborative, place‑based work, including creative health initiatives and targeted support for children and young people.
Creative Health in North Somerset brings together local residents, artists, community organisations and health partners to improve wellbeing through creativity and connection.
Through the Creative Health Board, partners are embedding creative approaches into care – including projects such as the Good Grief Festival and Coastal Community & Creative Health programmes.

Its first year will build local partnerships, recruit creative producers and develop a Citizens’ Jury to guide investment in grassroots creative projects.
Alongside this, the planned Community Chest fund will support small, locally‑led initiatives, ensuring creative health is inclusive, place‑based and driven by what matters most to local people.
The North Somerset Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Fund invests in creative, community‑based programmes that support young people’s mental health, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.
Funded by the North Somerset Locality Partnerships, Sirona care & health and North Somerset Council Public Health, the Fund supports seven VCSE organisations delivering activities such as nature‑based programmes, mentoring, counselling, perinatal mental health support and outdoor creative projects.
These activities provide young people, particularly those facing emotional‑based school avoidance, high needs, or barriers to statutory support, with safe, supportive spaces to build confidence, improve wellbeing and strengthen social connections.
In Woodspring, the Locality Partnership has also invested in two social prescribers based in North Somerset Council’s Family Hub, connecting young people to these seven programmes as well as the wider VCSE system.
The North Somerset Partnership Podcast was launched in August 2022 to share some of the work being done in North Somerset to help support people to keep well.
Locality Director for One Weston and Woodspring, David Moss, is joined by a different guest each episode. Guests include those involved in the provision and design of health services in North Somerset. They discuss the work being done to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population.
