It can be related to specific conditions but often there is no<br \/>\nspecific underlying disease process which can be identified to explain the<br \/>\nsymptoms. It can have a significant impact on people\u2019s lives and affects mood,<br \/>\nsleep, mobility and social factors such as work or ability to fulfil caring<br \/>\nresponsibilities. Medical management of patients with chronic pain is complex &#8211;<br \/>\npeople often expect a clear diagnosis and effective<br \/>\ntreatment but these are rarely available.<\/p>\n<p>Pain services focus on reducing the suffering experienced<br \/>\nby a person with chronic pain.
