The NHS Long Term Plan

The NHS Long Term Plan was published in January 2019. Drawn up by staff, patients and national experts it sets out a national ambition for how we can all make the NHS fit for the future.

The plan has three key areas of focus:

  • Making sure everyone gets the best start in life
  • Delivering world-class care for major health problems
  • Supporting people to age well.

As part of Healthier Together, health and care organisations across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire want to work in partnership with the public and staff to develop a local five year plan. This will build on all the existing good work already underway and will help us to make sure we are creating an ambitious but realistic local plan that takes account of national priorities and our local communities.

How can you get involved?

  • Email your thoughts and feedback to: ltp.feedback@nhs.net
  • Staff listening events and surveys will be held across the BNSSG area this summer. Further details will be promoted within each organisation
  • Through our existing programmes of work we regularly have conversations with a wide-range of people to seek feedback and input. This will be taken account of as our five year plan is drafted
  • If you are part of our Healthier Together Panel your responses to surveys will be used to help inform the development of our local plan
  • We may also hold further public events or surveys – we will post details on this page, so please check back in the coming months.
Discussing ideas at an event

Local Healthwatch organisations have already sought some public feedback. This included some broad questions relating to the NHS Long Term Plan and topic specific, including cancer and learning difficulties and autism. This report will be made publically available as soon as possible.
