New Chief Nursing Officer designate appointed to Integrated Care Board for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire

22 June 2022

The Integrated Care Board (ICB) for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) has appointed Rosi Shepherd as its Chief Nursing Officer designate.

The ICB is the new statutory body within the wider Integrated Care System (ICS) for the area, known as the Healthier Together Partnership. Following Royal Assent of the Health and Care Bill in April, ICBs will come into being across the country on Friday, 1 July 2022.

Rosi is a registered nurse, and currently the Director of Nursing and Quality for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), a post she started in January 2020.

As Chief Nursing Officer for the ICB, Rosi will be responsible for continuous quality improvement and providing senior clinical leadership to colleagues across the health and care system. Rosi’s role will include embedding meaningful patient and public engagement within the development and improvement of care and ensuring high-quality services for a population of just over one million people.

Prior to her current role at the CCG, Rosi was a Deputy Director of Nursing for NHS England and Improvement, where she worked across the southern region on a range of portfolio areas including quality improvement in primary care, safeguarding, and Continuing Health Care; and was the carers lead for the south of England. Before this, Rosi held a variety of senior roles in health and social care across Gloucestershire, with a focus on delivery of integration

Speaking about her appointment, Rosi said:

“I am delighted to be appointed to the ICB’s Chief Nursing Officer role and looking forward to continuing to work with system partners as we develop our Integrated Care System further.

“I really enjoy working across the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire area, and am excited to be able carry on the great work we have collectively started – to keep growing and improving services for the people we serve.”

Shane Devlin, CEO-designate of the Integrated Care Board, added:

“I am delighted that Rosi will be the ICB’s Chief Nursing Officer, and a key member of my executive team.

“Rosi has established great relationships with partners across our health and care system and will be a champion for quality health and care services for our population.

“Rosi has a wealth of clinical and quality improvement experience and expertise, and extensive knowledge of our system. This will be hugely valuable as we develop the ICB and continue to improve and provide the health, care and wellbeing improvements that matter most to people.”
