E WellAware website, a health and wellbeing directory, signposts to reliable, embarrassment-free information on women’s health. Posters to promote this new resource, featuring common questions asked by women, will be displayed in cafés, pubs, gyms and shopping centres.

The resource is for women and people, including trans men, non-binary, intersex and gender-expansive people across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and others who feel this information may be useful to them. It provides links to detailed information about various women’s health conditions such as endometriosis, contraception, female genital mutilation (FGM), bladder control and the menopause.

Dr Katherine Kearley-Shiers, Clinical Lead for Women’s Health at the NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer reliable online information in one place for women across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We want to support better outcomes for women by helping them find the right support, health service or information. We hope the posters will remind women they are not alone, and they can use the WellAware website to find out what help is available.

“We are delighted local businesses are willing to work with us to raise awareness of this valuable resource. These partnerships with local businesses mean we can increase awareness of women’s health services, but also the conditions many women face but don’t want to talk about. With WellAware, information about women’s health is accessible and widely available in the local community so people can feel more comfortable to talk about these things.”

Zazu’s Pubs, who have venues across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, will be helping the NHS to champion women’s health by displaying the posters in their venues.

A spokesperson for Zazu’s Pubs said: “We are pleased to be supporting the NHS with promoting women’s health by putting these posters up in our venues. Pubs are common places for people to talk about their health so why not show people where to get support?

“It’s so positive to be able to signpost our customers to WellAware so they can get the right health and wellbeing support.”
