Networked general hospital care

There are three acute hospitals within our area – Weston General Hospital, Southmead Hospital and Bristol Royal Infirmary.

In the future we want to develop more networked care. This means creating virtual clinical teams or a network of clinical specialists able to work across different sites in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Teams will also deliver more care in partnership with integrated community localities outside of hospitals.

‘Acute’ hospitals provide routine surgery, emergency or specialist procedures and diagnostics.

If we network our hospitals it will mean you will receive a consistent high standard of care no matter which hospital you visit. It may also mean fewer trips to a hospital if you can be seen elsewhere by a specialist.
