Shane Devlin takes up Integrated Care Board CEO-designate position
14 February 2022
Shane Devlin has started in post as CEO-designate of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) this week.
Shane was Chief Executive of the Southern Health and Care Trust in Northern Ireland prior to his appointment, and was previously Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
Having now moved to Bristol, Shane is now based in 360 in the centre of Bristol:
“It’s a privilege to be here, and I’m looking forward to getting started. I am also very keen to get out and meet as many of our citizens and staff as possible in the coming weeks.
“Great collaboration is taking place across our health and care system every day, both with and on behalf of the communities we serve. A key aim of the new arrangements will be to make collaboration the normal way of working and therefore we need to make it much simpler for all staff to achieve – wherever they work in BNSSG.
“Building on our partnership is integral to this, and I’m delighted to be playing a role as we progress to the next stage of system development.”
During the transition period from CCG to ICB, Shane will be working closely with Julia Ross and colleagues across the system to ensure the Integrated Care Board is established and ready for operation on 1 July 2022.
All being well with the passage of the Government’s Health and Care Bill, ICBs are set to exist in statute from 1 July 2022. Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be dissolved through the same legislation, with the vast majority of CCG staff transferring to the new organisation. The ICB will form the statutory body within the wider Healthier Together Partnership, with accountability for strategic planning and resource allocation.
