Progress and priorities for health in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire highlighted

New community diagnostic centres and increased investment in mental health services for children and young people are among the achievements highlighted in the latest Annual Report for NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB).

The report, which covers 12 months from April 2024, also shows a reduction in waiting times for elective care across several specialities, and a renewed focus on workforce wellbeing and retention.

It reflects a year of continued collaboration between NHS organisations, local authorities, voluntary sector partners and communities, with a strong focus on improving access to care, tackling health inequalities, and supporting workforce wellbeing.

Dr Jeff Farrar, Chair of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestrshire ICB, said:

“This report is a testament to the dedication and resilience of our health and social care workforce, who have worked tirelessly to deliver high-quality services in the face of significant pressures. We’ve made important strides in integrating care, listening to our communities, and laying the foundations for a more equitable and sustainable system.”

Chief Executive Officer Shane Devlin added:

“We want to express our sincere thanks to our staff, system partners and the communities of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Your hard work, resilience and collective spirit are what make our health and care system stronger and more compassionate

“Looking ahead, we remain committed to tackling the root causes of poor health, investing in prevention, and making sure every person in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire can access the support they need when and where they need it.”

The Performance Overview in the Annual Report also touches on priorities for the coming year, including further integration of digital services, continued focus on health inequalities, and supporting the delivery of the NHS 10 Year Health Plan.
