About this website

This website aims to:

  • celebrate neurodiversity and the unique strengths and talents of people who have neurodivergent traits
  • promote greater understanding of the natural variations in how we think, learn and process the world
  • provide information about the support, advice and guidance available for local people who may be neurodivergent
  • help us all foster a more neurodiversity-inclusive environment at home, in schools and colleges, and at work.

How we produced the content

This website draws on best practice and content produced by NHS Dorset, which pioneered the development of a comprehensive neurodiversity hub as part of its All Age Neurodevelopmental Review.

Content for the website was produced in partnership people with lived experience of autism and ADHD, as well as experts from the NHS and charities.

We are very grateful to NHS Dorset and all the individuals and organisations who contributed to the development of the website.

The language used on this website

This website is designed to provide an accessible, credible source of information on neurodiversity, for everyone in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. The language we use reflects that, and all the text should be clear and easy to understand.

Language around neurodiversity is evolving, but it is important that we use a consistent set of words and phrases on this website that those with lived experience have agreed are respectful, positive and inclusive.

We recognise people may use a range of terms to describe themselves and others. Sometimes people may use the wrong terminology without realising, and that’s okay. We will keep educating people in our communities to create more inclusive and accepting places.

Tell us what you think
