Supercharging Coaching

What is coaching?

Coaching, in its simplest form, is a conversation about you and your professional development.

A coach can help you to tackle your workplace challenges, explore new avenues and opportunities for development, support your wellbeing, and help you get ‘unstuck’.

You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for:

  • Information on what coaching is
  • Where to find a coach
  • How to train as a qualified coach
  • Coaching resources to improve your skills

How have we supercharged coaching?

The Supercharging Coaching programme ended in its current form in April 2024, but since its launch in 2022, we have worked in a collaborative of coaching leads across the Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire health and care system to support coaches, coaching, and access to coaching. We have focused on:

  • building a coaching community and enabling networking
  • supporting the development of coaches through CPD
  • training new coaches
  • training informal coaches – training in the foundations of coaching
  • building infrastructure through collaboration
  • progressing the development of a system coaching culture
  • increasing awareness of, and access to, coaching.

Working together, we have achieved numerous successes and supported hundreds of coaches and coachees:

  • 110 attendees to in-person Coaching For All event on 20 April 2023
  • 215 applications for the ILM 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching & Mentoring training
  • 48 coaches-in-training on the ILM 5 Certificate
  • 60% of trainee coaches from underrepresented and/or protected characteristic groups
  • 900 free coaching hours offered to system colleagues with a focus on social care
  • 136 coaching supervision places available over 1.5 years
  • 112 attendees to Coaching 101 training on the basics of coaching (including 31 from social care)
  • 166 joined online CPD sessions and network events facilitated by volunteer coaches
  • 400 members signed up to the Supercharging Coaching mailing list
