All Age Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy published

The Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care System All Age Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy has now been published.

The strategy sets out the vision of ‘better mental health for all’ with people having the best mental health and wellbeing in supportive, inclusive and thriving communities.

The strategy has been developed alongside local mental health and care organisations and people with lived experienced and their families, building on the overall Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care System Strategy that identifies mental health as one of the main health priorities for the area.

The All Age Mental Health And Wellbeing Strategy runs between 2024 and 2029 and focuses on six key ambitions:

  • Holistic care
  • Prevention and early help
  • Quality treatment
  • Sustainable services
  • Improving health equalities
  • Providing a great place to work for staff

Plans are being developed to address each ambition with local health and care partners committing to work together to create the wider social and economic conditions to support positive mental health and wellbeing, including investing in a healthy start in life.

Dominic Hardisty, Chief Executive of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP), said:

“Through the development of this strategy we have been able to learn an incredible amount about the needs of our local population and where we need to improve our mental health and wellbeing services, as well as how we can encourage people to have good mental health in everyday life.

“I am very proud that this important strategy has been published which complements AWP’s own mental health strategy launched last year, and thank everyone who has been a part of shaping it.”

An easy read version of the strategy has been developed, as well as a British Sign Language video introducing the strategy to people who require improved accessibility.
