New initiative launches to spark innovations in health and care services across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire

An update from the Innovate Healthier Together Programme.

An exciting new community of innovation pioneers and change-makers is forming to reimagine local health and care services as part of the Innovate Healthier Together programme.

Health Innovation West of England, in partnership with NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care Board (ICB), has launched the new Innovate Healthier Together Fellowship.

The fellowship will offer a space to connect individuals with diverse skills from different parts of the health and social care landscape with common interests; ultimately providing opportunities for collaboration, to spark ideas and develop these into actionable solutions to drive better health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

The community will benefit from access to mentors, regular workshops and seminars to share knowledge, enhance innovation and quality improvement skills, and support networking and connections across the community.

To launch the fellowship, Innovate Healthier Together is welcoming health and care staff, clinical and academic entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and anyone with an interest in health and care innovation to a launch event. Hosted by the Chair of Health Innovation West of England and Vice-Chancellor of UWE, Professor Sir Steve West CBE, the event will take place in Bristol on 1 May at The Mount Without, St Michael’s Hill.

Attendees of the event will have the opportunity to co-design the roadmap for the programme, connecting with other change-makers in health and care on the day, and learning from current research and insights into current attitudes around innovation set to be shared by NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) West.

Commenting on the launch of the fellowship, Professor Sir Steve West CBE said:

“It is our vision to increase the uptake of innovation and innovative ways of working across health and care services.

“By growing a well-networked community of enthusiasts who bring fresh thinking and new ways of doing things, our latest programme will accelerate innovation into services that positively impact the health of our population and beyond.”

Innovate Healthier Together is encouraging health and care staff, clinical and academic entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and more from across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire to register for the upcoming launch event here.
