Stay active this winter

Regular physical exercise can help improve your physical and mental health, reduce your risk of falling and can be beneficial for recovery if you do get ill. This is especially important during the winter when we tend to stay indoors and sit down more.

This winter, try to spend less time sitting down during the day. Stay active in the house and do some simple physical exercises if you feel able. The NHS website has short videos showing you exercises you can do at home.

Going for a walk outside is also a great way to boost your mood, but check it’s safe and not icy before you head out.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, community partners such as Wesport run a wide range of exercise classes and sports throughout the area for people of all ages and abilities.
