Research Capability Funding (RCF) Themed Calls 2026/27
The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB research team is committed to supporting health and care research that addresses the needs of our local population and reduces health inequalities.
Through our Research Capability Funding (RCF) Themed Calls, we invite applications to develop research in priority areas identified through community engagement and system-wide review. This does not replace our normal RCF Responsive Call, which is open in addition to the Themed Call.
For 2026/27, two research themes have been selected following extensive engagement with under-served and under-represented communities across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire:
- Theme 1: Improving Men’s Health Outcomes Through Community-Based Approaches
- Theme 2: Housing Conditions, Affordability and Security as Drivers of Health Inequalities
Funding and assessment
Themed Call applications are submitted, reviewed and assessed in the same way as Responsive Call applications and must meet the same standards for fundability.
Please read the Responsive Call guidance above alongside the Themed Call guidance before applying.
