Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK, but it’s estimated that almost 90% of melanoma skin cancers could be prevented by staying safe in the sun and avoiding sunbeds.
Follow these handy tips to make sure you stay safe in the sun this summer.
Use at least factor 30 sunscreen and reapply frequently.
Stay hydrated and avoid excess alcohol.
Wear clothes and sunglasses that provide sun protection, including a wide-brimmed hat that shades the face, neck and ears.
Spend time in the shade when the sun is at its strongest between 11am and 3pm.
Take extra care to protect babies and children. Children aged under 6 months should be kept out of direct strong sunlight.
